Andrew Sheen has extensive experience in operational risk management, risk governance, operational resilience, third-party risk management and regulatory policy, gained as a UK regulator, senior banking executive and independent consultant. At the Financial Services Authority (FSA), and subsequently the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), he managed the Operational Risk Policy Team before leading the team providing operational risk and governance expertise to supervisors.
Andrew represented the UK regulator in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and European Banking Authority operational risk working groups. His international policy experience includes work on the Principles for the Sound Management of Operational Risk and supervisory guidance on operational risk measurement approaches.
He subsequently joined HSBC to assess how the bank used and embedded its operational risk management framework, and later Credit Suisse, where he was responsible for managing regulatory risk relating to operational risk management, including engagement with the PRA and FINMA.
As a consultant, Andrew has advised firms on regulatory findings and Section 166 reviews, operational risk framework design and implementation, governance, operational resilience, outsourcing and third-party risk management, and training.
